How To Stay Safe During Your Business Trips

Travelling During Lockdown
.
.
It is important to remember that there is still a pandemic out there and no cure in sight. Travelling has been allowed, some Airbnbs and hotels have opened, however, this is mainly for business-related travelling only.
.
It’s still high-risk travelling, even if it is for work. But there are ways you can be safe. Here are a few things you can do before leaving home and once you have reached your destination.
.
Do your research

It is important to do your research before your trip - a corporate travel planning business can help with this. Although the regulations in every province are the same, a city might have its own extra rule on the side. Find out what one usually does when one arrives at your destination. This is especially important for the Airbnb or hotel that you are going to be staying at. If you’re not somebody who usually reads up on hotel policies, now is the time to be that person. Many places have changed their policies and rules to adjust to the current times and being prepared will help avoid any problems. It is also important to know what protocols the Airbnb/hotel has in place to protect guests and staff from Covid-19. Call your place of accommodation ahead of your trip.
.
Air travel is the best way

Using an aeroplane to travel is quicker and you spend less time being in the same space as other people. Most business trips are usually outside of one’s city and long-distance travelling by bus, for example, isn’t advisable. There are stops along the way and this could heighten the risk of contracting the virus. Using your own car is another safer option, especially for short-distance trips.
.
Disinfect your room

Although many places are being cautious, do your part in being extra cautious too. Bring your own surface sanitiser and wipes to disinfect your room in a way that’ll make you feel comfortable during your stay. While you’re doing this, open a window or two to let in some fresh air.
.
Try to avoid using items that everyone uses like the mugs for coffee or cutlery.
.
Although Airbnbs are only open for business purposes, try booking an entire apartment or a secluded room. Hotels have lobbies where you’ll be in close proximity to many people, so Airbnbs may be a safer choice because you can check in and out without ever seeing anyone.
.
Make sure you get tested as soon as you get back home

As much as you might not have serious symptoms, it would be of benefit to you and the people you live with, to get tested. If not, then go into self-isolation until you feel that it’s safe to leave your isolation area.
.
Always remember to wash your hands before and after doing any activity, always wear your mask and wash it too.
